Song Story - None

“Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it."

What Other King

I had the basic idea for this song for a long time, years even. I had already written the first two lines to the bridge, but that’s as far as I got. Songwriting can be so frustrating, and turning a song from just an idea, into something that people can sing, is no simple feat!

The Role of a BV

Ok… let’s chat vocals.  Specifically backing vocals. As a young singer on the music team, I used to question my importance as a support singer in a service. “Can anyone even hear me out the front?”, “Does it really matter if I don’t know the words that well?”, “I’ll just sing the melody, since the focus is on the worship leader anyway, right?”.

WHERE ARE YOU POSITIONED?

I love that God is the ultimate storyteller, and through stories in the bible, His truth shines through. Lately I’ve been stuck on the parable of Jesus and Zacchaeus. I knew the story but I never really stayed on it long enough to really catch it.

Performance

The result of burdensome weariness is an unhealthy yoke to something. We have to be careful that we don’t get yoked to the wrong thing. When Christ extended the invitation to be yoked to him it’s because he knew that life would have moments of exhaustion that can be avoided.
